Menerusi perkongsian di Threads, seorang lelaki dikenali sebagai Handy Surakhman berkata ibu bapanya pernah mengusahakan tanaman durian selama enam tahun. Bagaimanapun, hasil yang diperoleh didakwa tidak memuaskan apabila kualiti buah yang dihasilkan lebih rendah berbanding durian kampung.<\/p><h2><span class=\"s1\"><b>Puji Peranan MARDI Dalam Industri Durian<\/b><\/span><\/h2><p class=\"p2\">Menurut Handy, selepas beberapa tahun menetap di Malaysia, dia mula memahami mengapa peladang di negara ini jarang berdepan masalah yang sama. Katanya, Malaysia mempunyai Institut Penyelidikan dan Kemajuan Pertanian Malaysia (MARDI) yang memainkan peranan penting dalam pembangunan industri durian. Jelasnya, MARDI bukan sahaja mengawal pemilihan baka seperti Musang King D197, malah menjalankan penyelidikan terhadap struktur tanah serta menentukan lokasi penanaman yang sesuai. Sebagai contoh, beliau berkata Musang King didapati paling sesuai ditanam di kawasan Raub, Pahang.<\/p><h2><span class=\"s1\"><b>Indonesia Perlu Perkukuh Sistem Penanaman<\/b><\/span><\/h2><p class=\"p3\">Handy turut menjelaskan bahawa Indonesia sebenarnya memiliki pelbagai varieti durian seperti Petruk, Matahari, Tokong, Super Tembaga dan Klamunot yang menurutnya mempunyai rasa yang sangat sedap. Namun, beliau berpendapat perkembangan industri tersebut masih belum mencapai potensi sebenar kerana pemilihan lokasi penanaman, kawalan benih dan pembangunan industri tidak dilaksanakan secara menyeluruh.
